St. Patrick's Day in Sydney

St.Patrick’s Day in Sydney is set to be bigger and better than ever in 2011. This years theme is ‘Book of Kells’. Participants are encouraged to embrace this theme and use it as an inspiration for costumes. There will be entertainment on George Street outside the Town Hall before the parade, including music and dancing.

It is that time of year again where Sydney comes together to celebrate the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras!

People from all walks of life attend this Parade. Watch on, as the entire city turns into the biggest, most colourful party of the year where anyone and everyone are welcome. This really is one of the most exciting nights of the year and everyone is so friendly, you are sure to make some new friends!

The most anticipated short film festival of the year is back in Sydney this Sunday 20th February. The festival will be held at The Domain (Mrs Macquaries Road, Sydney). This event is free and starts at 12pm, however the main Tropfest films will start screening at approximately 7:30pm and finishes at 11pm.

Each year there is a theme, and this must appear in the film at some point. This year the theme is ‘the key’ – so make sure you watch out for it in each film on the day.

Chinese New Year 2011 - Top events in Sydney

Whether they have a Chinese background or not, Sydney-siders love heading into the city (and China Town) to celebrate Chinese New Year. This year that is today, February 3.

The Chinese New Year Twilight Parade will be from 7:45pm – 9:45pm on Sunday, 6th February from Town Hall to Darling Harbour. Head down to Darling Harbour at the end of the parade for the fireworks show.

There are always a lot of people in Sydney so make sure you get there early to get a good spot! You can pay $60 to get the best seats for the parade, but we don’t think you need to – go for the free option and save some money.
