Academic English 3 (AE 3)

(previously EAP2) 

This course prepares you for further study at Australian vocational colleges and TAFE. It is task-based, which means that you demonstrate your skills throughout the course by completing a number of practical academic language tasks. You do not have formal exams but must successfully complete all of the tasks in order to pass each course.

These tasks include:

  • Investigative report writing
  • Note-taking from an oral source
  • Writing an exposition/argument
  • Research skills
  • Academic listening and reading
  • Use of computer software for academic purposes

Key facts
Entry requirements: A guide to the English level required for this course is an IELTS (Academic) score of 5.0 with a  minimum of 5.0 in each section.  (Approximately equivalent to UEC Intermediate)

Acceptance is confirmed after the successful completion of the pre-entry test at the college prior to course commencement.

OR Completion of AE 2 with a Grade A or B

Course duration: 8 weeks
Hours per week: 22.5 hours/week face to face teaching
