Academic English 5 (AE 5)

Our AE 5 course prepares you for undergraduate and post-graduate study at an Australian university. Course content is essentially task and genre based and consists of a blend of teacher input and learner centred tasks.

Assessment is based on a combination of graded and non-graded tasks, the successful production of a range of text types and end of course tests. To satisfactorily complete the AE5 program, students must receive a pass grade for all assessable pieces of work.

Specific course objectives are grouped under the following headings:

  • Language skills for tertiary study
  • Learning strategies and research skills
  • Australian education systems
  • Social and cultural skills

Entry requirements:A guide to the English level required for this course is
IELTS 6.0 (minimum 6.0 in all sections) 
OR CAE Pass 
OR FCE Pass A

Acceptance is confirmed after the successful completion of the pre-entry test at the college prior to course commencement.

OR completion of AE3 with an A grade 
OR completion of AE4 with a B grade

Course duration: 10 weeks 
Hours per week: 20 hours/week face to face teaching
