Homestay

Homestay is a great way to learn about Australian culture and practise your English at the same time. Our homestay program offers you the chance to live in a safe and secure environment with a friendly Australian family, for all or part of your stay in Sydney. You are provided with your own room, breakfast and dinner on weekdays and all meals on weekends.

Our helpful in-house team arranges your homestay placement. They take great care to match you with the most compatible family, so you will have the best possible experience. They select our homestay families very carefully and inspect all homes to make sure they are suitable. Every four weeks, our staff meet with you to make sure you are happy with your homestay family.

Airport Pick-up

Our homestay staff will also arrange for you to be met on arrival at Sydney Airport and taken to your homestay if you wish.

Becoming a Homestay Host

If you are interested in becoming a homestay host and sharing your home with one of our students please complete the host application form (PDF) and return via email or fax to 9283-1760.

Yuji, Japan

A friend recommended Universal English College (GV Sydney) to me and so I decided I would come to Australia and study. I wanted to make sure I was always practising English, so I chose homestay.

Homestay is good because I am in a family atmosphere and there are some similarities to my family in Japan so I don’t miss home too much. I have my own room in a nice house and my family has a boy who is 21.  We are close to the city and we spend lots of time together.

I go to college during the day where I am in the General English course, and then at night I continue with my English practice with my homestay family, when we talk about what I did during the day. We watch TV and go shopping for food for dinner. I really like the cooking. We have steak, and pasta, and curry. It is very nice!

It is my first time to Australia, and I have already been here three months. I will stay for one more month with my homestay family and then I hope to find a job. I am a musician so I hope to find something in that area. I will find share accommodation but will definitely keep in contact with my homestay family.
