Study English + Au Pair

Our Student Au Pair Program provides you with the opportunity to study and reduce the cost of your stay in Australia by exchanging au pair work for free accommodation and board. There are a number of options available:

For Student Visa and Working Holiday Visa students:

1.  20 hour program
Exchanging 20 hours work per week for free accommodation and board plus a minimum A$100 weekly allowance.

For Working Holiday Visa students only:

2.  25-30 hour program
Exchanging 25-30 hours work per week for free accommodation and board plus a minimum A$150-$180 weekly allowance.

Who is Suitable to Work as an Au Pair?

  • minimum 19 years of age
  • intermediate level of English or better
  • responsible character, flexible and motivated to work in a family
  • good domestic skills and experience with children

Study Requirements

For Student Visa students, the Au Pair program is undertaken in conjunction with enrolment in a full-time English course of at least 16 weeks. You must come to Australia on a Student Visa and apply for Permission to Work. This visa entitles you to undertake up to 20 hours of paid employment while enrolled in a full-time course of 25 hours per week. For Working Holiday Visa students, the Au Pair program is undertaken in conjunction with enrolment in a part-time or full-time English course of 16 weeks.

The Au Pair program fee includes an intensive 8 hour course to equip you with the skills you need to make your au pair placement a success!

Key Facts

Age Requirement: Minimum 19 years   
English Entry Requirement: UEC (GV Sydney) Intermediate General English (Pre-course test available if required)
English Course Duration: Minimum 16 weeks. You can choose from a wide range of courses available at Universal English College (GV Sydney).
     
Au Pair Duration: Minimum 16 weeks (including 2 weeks in homestay accommodation)

Please note that applications to commence the au pair family from mid-November and December cannot be accepted due to the difficulty in finding families available over the Christmas holiday period.
