What our Students Say

Ingrid, Germany

Being an au pair is hard work but it is a good experience if you like children. I lived with a perfect family in a great location. I looked after 2 boys, who are aged 5 and 6. I enjoyed living in Sydney, especially going to beaches, visiting the Royal Botanic Gardens and the great food. I am returning to Germany to start an apprenticeship with BMW where I will be trained in administration.

Day after day, my English improved. Without a doubt it was because I was an Au Pair. I went to the College every morning and then worked for the family between 3pm and 7pm.

I was also able to discover the magnificent city of Sydney - Opera House, Sydney Tower, Harbour Bridge, Bondi Beach, Botanical Gardens. The atmosphere at the school is always excellent and I have many great memories. I made friends from all around the world.

Andrea, Germany

I combined my General English course with Au Pair so I could work while I studied. I really liked my au pair family, they included me in lots of their activities, even a skiing trip. My listening and conversation skills have improved thanks to my course and au pair placement, and my confidence in speaking English has also increased.

The teachers and other staff at the College are very helpful. The Student Services Officer in particular helped me throughout my entire stay. You can ask Eve (Student Services Offer) anything and she always has an answer!

I chose to study at Universal English College (GV Sydney) because I decided I needed to get more confident in speaking English. I am doing the Au Pair program and feel very lucky to have such a wonderful family who have made me feel welcome and like a part of the family.

I get plenty of time to myself as well and so can explore Sydney with the new friends I have made, and still practice my English. We are all learning and even though I had good reading and writing I really needed to improve my speaking. Studying at UEC has really helped me to become more confident.

After I take my Cambridge exam in December I will go back to Germany, and finish my university course there, and then after that I want to travel to visit all the new friends that I have made!
