Japanese Teacher Profiles

Hello

My name is Tomoko, and I am from Miyazaki, Japan.  I was born and grew up in an area where I could enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities and fresh seafood, both of which I still enjoy.

In the last 15 years, I have had many opportunities to associate with students in Japan, China, America and Australia.  I truly enjoy teaching here at UEC, sharing my Japanese language and cultural knowledge with students from different parts of the world as well as learning about their countries and cultures.

Hello

I'm Fumiko. I was born and grew up in the Osaka area. After graduation I worked in Tokyo, one of the most exciting cities in the world.

I have been studying foreign languages for many years, so as a language learner, I have a lot of sympathy and admiration for my students. I really enjoy teaching here at UEC. Come and have fun learning the Japanese language and culture with us!

Hello everybody

My name is Hiromi. My partner always says that he imported me from Japan in August 2004. I have been teaching at UEC since February 2006.

Before arriving in Sydney, I worked from 1994 onwards as a Japanese Language teacher at the Language Institute in Osaka, instructing students preparing for the Japanese Proficiency test at all levels. I also taught Japanese privately to corporate foreign employees from overseas and gave tutorials on report-writing techniques and formats.

In another part of my teaching career, I taught and trained Japanese nationals to become Japanese language teachers.

I also devised courses to prepare people for the Japanese Teaching License Examination, teaching classes in linguistics, phonetics and phonology, history of Japanese language and the history of writing methods of Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji.

My hobbies are  trekking and playing "Koto" and "Shamisen", however, it's difficult to find enough time to enjoy them for now.

My name is Yukari I am from Osaka and I love Okonomiyaki (Japanese pan cake) and Takoyaki (Octpus balls),which are typical foods in Osaka. I enjoy walking and watching movies. I have taught Japanese to both children (from 5 years) and adults in Victoria and New South Wales

In my class I encourage students to express their ideas in Japanese. I use activities to help them to communicate with each other. My main interest is to support individual students according to their needs. I hope to see you soon at UEC!
